Carry-On Baggage Restrictions
Here is some important information about baggage for your helicopter flight.
Items that may pose a danger or nuisance to the aircraft, its occupants, or others are prohibited from being carried on aircraft by law.
The following is a summary of what is and is not permitted. Please be sure to check the conditions and quantities.
Baggage Size and Weight
You may bring one large item of baggage (such as a suitcase) per person.
In total, approximately four small suitcases and three medium suitcases can be loaded.
Small: up to 115 cm in total dimensions (sum of the three sides; approx. 30–45 liters); Medium: up to 160 cm in total dimensions (approx. 60–75 liters).
Items longer than 1 m, such as golf bags or surfboards, cannot be brought on board as they are difficult to load into the cargo hold. If necessary, please arrange to ship such items in advance by mail or a similar service.
If the combined weight of passengers and baggage exceeds 450 kg, we may be unable to operate the flight.
Power Banks and Spare Lithium Batteries
Please be sure to observe the following regarding power banks and spare lithium batteries.
Place them in a fire-resistant bag: Please carry power banks in a fire-resistant bag (such as a fireproof or flame-retardant battery pouch).
Keep them within reach: Do not place power banks in unmonitored locations such as cargo areas, pet cages, or under-seat storage compartments. Always keep them within your sight and within reach in your seat area (they may not be stored in the cargo compartment).
Up to 160 Wh (watt-hour rating): Items exceeding 160 Wh may not be brought on board (Wh = rated capacity (mAh) × rated voltage (V) ÷ 1000; e.g., 27,000 mAh at 3.7 V is approx. 99.9 Wh. For items without a capacity label, please confirm that they are 160 Wh or less).
Power banks (intended to charge other electronic devices): 160 Wh or less, up to 2 per person (up to 2 per person even at 100 Wh or less).
Spare lithium batteries (removed from electronic devices): No quantity limit at 100 Wh or less; up to 2 for those over 100 Wh and up to 160 Wh.
No charging on board: Do not charge power banks on board (penalties may apply under the Civil Aeronautics Act).
No use on board (charging other devices): Do not charge other electronic devices from a power bank. To charge electronic devices, please use the power outlets provided on board (penalties may apply under the Civil Aeronautics Act).
Prevent short circuits: Insulate the terminals with tape or place the battery in a case, and do not put it in the same bag as metal objects or other batteries.
Other items subject to quantity limits or conditions
When bringing the following items on board, please be sure to observe the specified quantity limits and conditions.
Small smoking lighter: 1 unit, carried on your person. Lighters with a built-in lithium battery are subject to separate requirements.
Small box of safety matches: 1 unit, carried on your person.
Alcoholic beverages (more than 24% up to 70% ABV): Within 5 L; must be in retail packaging.
Medicines and toiletries (non-radioactive, including aerosols): Up to 2 kg / 2 L in total (each container 0.5 kg / 0.5 L or less); release valves protected by caps or similar.
Medical oxygen or air (excluding liquefied): Small cylinders, up to 5 kg each.
Compressed gas (Division 2.2, for mechanical limbs): No quantity limit.
Dry ice (for cooling perishables): Up to 2.5 kg; labeled "DRY ICE".
Lithium-ion battery for electric wheelchairs (only if removable from the wheelchair): 300 Wh or less for wheelchairs powered by a single battery; 160 Wh or less per battery for wheelchairs powered by two batteries (in both cases, the battery must be removed and short-circuit prevention measures taken).
Hair styling equipment (hydrocarbon gas-filled): 1 unit. Refill gas cartridges may not be brought on board.
Mercury barometer or thermometer: Government agency officials only; must be reported to the pilot-in-command.
Gas cylinders for inflatable life jackets: Up to 2 devices (2 cartridges fitted per device).
Spare gas cylinders (for life jackets): Up to 2 per device.
Gas cylinders other than for personal safety devices: Up to 4; no subsidiary risk; each 50 ml or less.
Firearms, swords, and similar items: For official-duty use and meeting legal requirements.
Avalanche rescue backpack: 1 unit; explosive charge 200 mg or less; fitted with a pressure relief valve.
Portable electronic smoking devices with built-in batteries (e-cigarettes, etc.): Lithium metal 2 g or less; lithium-ion 100 Wh or less.
Portable electronic devices with built-in lithium batteries: Lithium metal 2 g or less; lithium-ion 160 Wh or less.
Spare lithium batteries (removed from electronic devices): Please see "Power Banks and Spare Lithium Batteries" above.
Fuel cells containing fuel: Up to 2 spare cartridges; liquid 200 ml / solid 200 g or less.
Spare fuel cell cartridges: Up to 2 (liquid 200 ml / solid 200 g or less).
Storage batteries (non-spillable), nickel-metal hydride batteries, dry cells: Up to 2 spares; 12 V or less and 100 Wh or less.
Spare storage batteries, etc. (short-circuit protected): Up to 2 spares; 12 V or less and 100 Wh or less.
Pathological specimens (containing flammable liquid): See Special Provision A180.
Liquid nitrogen for cooling: In a pressure-resistant container, packed in a porous material.
Medical devices using radioactive material: Limited to implanted or body-worn devices.
Bags with built-in lithium batteries: Those with lithium metal exceeding 0.3 g or lithium-ion exceeding 2.7 Wh must be carried as cabin (carry-on) baggage.
Defective lithium batteries or devices containing them (deemed unsuitable for normal use by the manufacturer): Must meet all the conditions listed in "Additional Notes and Precautions" below.
Items not permitted on board under any circumstances
The following items may not be brought on board under any circumstances.
Ammunition
Lithium-ion batteries and power banks exceeding 160 Wh
Sodium-ion batteries (including power banks and electronic devices containing them, regardless of capacity; because no safety standards corresponding to international standards have been established for them)
Electric wheelchairs whose battery cannot be removed from the body (neither the wheelchair nor the battery is allowed)
Storage batteries for electric wheelchairs (excluding lithium-ion batteries)
Removed storage batteries, etc. for electric wheelchairs (excluding lithium-ion batteries)
Spare storage batteries, etc. for electric wheelchairs (excluding lithium-ion batteries)
Medical thermometers containing mercury (personal use)
Permeation devices for air pollution monitoring
Internal combustion engines or fuel cell engines
Security-type equipment (cash-transport attaché cases, etc.; Special Provision A178)
Additional Notes and Precautions
Masses and volumes refer to net mass and net volume.
Items containing multiple dangerous goods must comply with all applicable provisions.
Portable electronic smoking devices such as e-cigarettes may also not be charged on board.
Lithium batteries and electronic devices containing them that have been deemed by the manufacturer to be unsuitable for normal use — because they could progress to a hazardous state due to heat, fire, or short circuit — must meet all of the following:
Be carried as carry-on baggage
Be kept under the supervision of the passenger carrying them
Be powered off
Not be charged on board
Have measures in place to prevent accidental activation and be protected from damage
